Glossary Automated Guaranteed

Automated Guaranteed

Automated guaranteed is Smart AdServer's platform to sell premium guaranteed inventory in a programmatic, but not auction-based way. Publishers create a catalog of products and make them available to buyers to browse and book. Automated guaranteed is not a real-time technology: inventory is managed and booked in advance of the campaign start date.

OpenDirect

OpenDirect is the API specified by the International Advertising Bureau (IAB). It specifies how the buyers and sellers exchange information on the automated guaranteed marketplace: establishing a relationship, managing orders, bookings, creatives etc. Smart AdServer complies with the OpenDirect specification.

Product

A product is a publisher's offer. It consists of a price, inventory and other information. Products are made available to the buyers on the different buying platforms Smart AdServer has integrated with.

In Smart AdServer's initial version of Automated Guaranteed, the product definition is limited to formats and sites. In a future version, a product will have all the components available in insertions (pages, packs, targeting criteria etc.)

Proposal

A proposal is a request to book a campaign. It comes from a buyer (usually an agency) using an Automated Guaranteed buying platform Smart AdServer is integrated with.

Organization

An organization is an advertiser or an agency (buyer). You can blacklist organizations in order to exclude them from the list of organizations.

Order

An order comes from a buyer (usually an agency) using an Automated Guaranteed buying platform Smart AdServer is integrated with. It is the equivalent of a campaign in Smart AdServer. An order specifies the start and end date as well as financial information.

Line

A line comes from a buyer (usually an agency) using an Automated Guaranteed buying platform Smart AdServer is integrated with. When a line is accepted, an insertion is created in the Smart AdServer UI. The order (campaign) is the parent element of the line. The validation process (status) is done on line level.
