1 - Finding and blocking unwanted RTB+ ads

In rare cases, you may see inappropriate or otherwise unwanted RTB+ ads served through RTB+. This is how to find and block them instantly.

Unwanted RTB+ ads on desktop or mobile web

  • open the Transparency report https://ec-ns.sascdn.com/diff/rtb/report/TransparencyReport.html in the browser where you saw the ad
  • the Transparency report relies on a cookie with a unique user id! It is useless if you open it in a browser where the ad in question was never seen; never delete cookies, since you could lose valuable information
  • if somebody told you that they saw an appropriate ad somewhere, send them the transparency Report URL and this article
  • do not delete cookies before opening the transparency report
  • the transparency report lists the last 50 impressions delivered via RTB+ in the given browser
  • identify the advertiser to be blocked
  • create a delivery rule with effect: "block" and add the advertiser
  • add other unwanted advertisers to this delivery rule (blocklist)
  • advise your Technical Manager to investigate (decide if the advertiser needs to be blocked globally)

Note:
The transparency only works for http websites (https websites are not supported).

Unwanted RTB+ ads in apps (iOS/Android SDK)
  • follow these instruction on the same device/app where you saw the unwanted ad; the transparency report is useless if you open it on a device/app where the unwanted ad was never seen
  • create a mobile insertion
  • on the placements tab: select the placement(s) where you saw the unwanted ad
  • select the script template MRAID SDK Interstitial (1) and set Duration: 500 (2) in order to have enough time to read the transparency report
  • Create an HTML 5 creative and paste this URL as the source: https://ec-ns.sascdn.com/diff/rtb/report/TransparencyReport.html (3)
  • target the insertion to your own IP and put it online
  • view the insertion delivered in your app and identify the advertiser to be blocked
  • the transparency report lists the last 50 impressions delivered via RTB+ in the given app
  • identify the advertiser to be blocked
  • create a delivery rule with effect: block and add the advertiser
  • add other unwanted advertisers to this delivery rule (blocklist)
  • advise your Technical Manager to investigate (decide if the advertiser needs to be blocked globally).
