Exporting ad tags (Publisher solution)

Prior to exporting ad tags in Smart AdServer's user interface, you need to set up your inventory. Read here to learn how to set up inventory.

Go to Administration > Websites and select Download all tags

Configuring the export

Configuring the export

Select the appropriate non-video ad tag type and/or video ad tags . Optionally, deselect non-video formats or video formats . Select the appropriate websites . Click Generate to download the ad tags as a text file.

The .txt export file

The .txt export file includes all the codes needed for tagging. For some tag types (e. g. Synchronous (Standard)), you will find a generic code at the beginning of the file. This is followed by all the ad tags, structured by website, page and format.

Use the HTML comments for orientation in the file. For instance, the ad tags for the page "my_page" can be found under the following html comment:

<!-- Page : my_page -->

Placements in mobile apps

In mobile apps, the ad requests are managed by Smart AdServer's SDK (iOS or Android SDK). The app developer (who implements the SDK) only needs the ids and names of the websites/pages/formats. With these, the app developer will define the placements (ad slots) in the mobile app.

Currently, Smart AdServer's user interface does not provide any specific export feature to get the list of website/page/format IDs along with the corresponding website/page/format names. However, you can use a workaround, which works as follows:

Create the mobile app inventory as described here in the section Setting up a mobile app (Android or iOS).

Go to Administration > Formats and edit the mobile app formats you have created

Temporarily change their type to Standard

Export the ad tags: either for a single page or for the full website (app). When exporting, use the tag type "Standard (Generic call)".

Go back to Administration > Formats and change the according formats back to their original type (Mobile).

Explain to the app developer where to find the siteId/pageId/formatId and the corresponding names using this example:

<script type="text/javascript">
    sas.call("std", {
        siteId:     20697,  //
        pageId:     556261, // Page : mywebsite/mypage (PageID=556261)
        formatId:   9304,   // Format : banner
        target:     ''  // Targeting
    });
</script>

From this example, the following information is needed to define the ad slot:

  • siteId 20697, siteName: mywebsite
  • pageId 556261, pageName: mypage
  • formatId 9304, formatName: banner
